San Diego Bird Festival
March 3-6, 2011 The 15th annual festival takes wing on scenic Mission Bay when beginning and expert birders alike flock to view some of the county's 500 species of birds. 2011 is bigger and better than ever, with Audubon California's Assembly being held concurrently with the San Diego Bird Festival at the Marina Village Conference Center. The 2011 keynote speaker is seabird expert Peter Harrison. Guided field trips, including popular pelagic birding trips, a Birding & Optics EXPO, workshops, presentations, social mixers, and Audubon California meetings and events are scheduled. Four Sunday workshops, Birds & Youth, Beginning Bird Artwork, Raptor Rap, and Bird Calling are planned especially for kids and families. Registration for the four-day festival is $20. Fees for workshops and field trips vary, with price points to fit every budget, including some specialized trips, workshops, and events that are free. Parking at Marina Village is free.
