Join abstract expressionist painter Sondra Hersh and writer Joan Stockbridge in an evening’s exploration of the beauty of the present moment. Sondra and Joan collaborated to create RiverWalk, an exhibit of painting and haiku created out of their immediate experiences of walking along the North Fork of the American River. On Friday, March 12 they will briefly describe their collaboration and lead the audience through a lively, playful experience of being present in the moment, including fun writing and art activities. Suitable for families with grade school age children as well as adults.
The evening's event ties into the "Forever Free" exhibit at The Arts Building Gallery, February 26 - March 27. “Forever Free” is a wild and scenic multi-media, themed group exhibition. The exhibit will showcase visual, performing and literary artists of any discipline, who are inspired by the American River Canyons. The exhibition and events celebrate the importance of the American River to regional communities and beyond. Exhibition and events are presented cooperatively by PlacerArts and Protect American River Canyons. The Arts Building Gallery is located at 808 Lincoln Way in downtown Auburn. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturdays, Noon to 4 pm. For more information call (530) 885-5670, or email office@placerarts.org. |
